Edward John
(1884 - 1965)
Edward John was born to parents Edward and Eliza on 19 September 1884 at ' New Mill ' Llantrisant, Glamorgan. The birth was registered by Eliza who declared herself as ' late Vivian, formerly Vivian '.
An obituary in the Aberdare Leader of 30 October 1965 records some details of Edward.
He had spent a long time at Abercynon Colliery, served with the Royal Engineers in the Great War and had worked at BOAC during WW2.
At 81, he was ' remarkably active for his years '. He had ' died suddenly ', having been out and about the day before. Most of his life had been spent in and about the Abercynon area and he had held a small-holding at the Royal Oaks allotments.
