Elsie Amelia Hallett

(1896 - ????)

Elsie Amelia was baptised at St John Baptist, Bridgwater on 25 September 1896. Her baptism record indicates that the family were living at Barclay Street, Bridgwater and that her father John Thomas Hallett, was working as a sail maker.

Interestingly, Elsie's mother was recorded as Annie Hallett. When Elsie's older sister, Lilian was baptised in 1894, her mother was named Emily.

A further sister Ethel May was baptised in November 1898. The families address was recorded as 59 Barclay Street and John was still employed as a sail maker. The mother was recorded as Annie Hallett.

At the time of the 1901 census, Elsie was living with her grandparents George and Joanna Hallett at 2 Railway Parade, Bridgwater.

Elsie's sisters were living with grandparents John & Amelia Pearm, their daughter Emma Pearm, who is recorded as single and a further grandchild of John and Amelia Pearm, 13 year old Henry Crawford.

It is not certain if Emma Pearm is Elsie's mother and if not where her mother might be. Elsie's father has yet to be located at this time but could have been taking part in the war in S Africa.

The following tree demonstrates the connection with Elsie and my line. George Hallett and John Hallett, both appeared to move around the country together.
