Elizabeth Gilling

Elizabeth is believed to have been born in Bridgwater, Somerset during 1845; her parents were William and Sarah.

Elizabeth's brother Richard was born between October and November 1850.

At the time of the 1851 census Elizabeth was recorded as five years old and living with her parents and brother at Ropers lane, within the Bridgwater parish of Trinity. At 32 and 35 and in relation to other families of this time, her parents were reasonably old to have such young children. Her father was employed as a porter to corn merchants.
