George Gould

(1823 - 1848)

George Gould was baptised at All Saints church, North Molton, Devon on 20 July 1823; his parents were John and Mary. The baptism record indicates that George's father was working as a husbandman.

George was joined by sister Jane, who was baptised at All Saints church on 02 April 1826. George's father had changed his job and was working as a labourer.

The third child of Mary and John was John. He was baptised at All Saints church on 28 September 1829.

A further child Susan, was baptised at All Saints church on 01 December 1834.

The 1841 census places seventeen year old George at Fore Street, North Molton. He is living with James and Elizabeth Gould who were 56 and 57 years old respectively. George's relationship to James and Elizabeth is unknown.

In the same census George's brother was also away from the home. His parents and sisters were living at Bridge Street, North Molton.

George's father died on 20 November 1843 and was buried at All Saints Parish church on 26 November 1843. The death was registered by George's mother Mary who was present at the death.

George died at the age of 25 and was buried at All Saints church on 29.10.1848. It is not known if he had married prior to his death.
